It was a sunny day in September when MSC Lunchbox Concert Series kicked off their semester with local rapper and Texas A&M Mechanical Engineering student Jean Claude- Faa, better known as JC Juice.

Upon first listening to JC Juice one can tell the dedication and work that goes into his rhythms and rhymes. His music is unique with clear influences not only from rap but also traditional jazz beats, and that’s JC’s goal. One thing JC aims to do is to not emulate Mainstream rappers, he’d rather work to create his own sound. JC classifies himself as an “alternative rapper” and is inspired by rappers such as Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamar and Anderson Paak but also draws inspiration from artists like Hippocampus, Tom Mische, FKJ and Jordan Rakej.

JC’s eagerness to create and compose new music never leaves him. Ideas will come to him during all times of the day whether he’s at a party or even in class. Because of this JC is always prepared to create and mark down his creative flows. On certain occasions his ideas have come so quickly that JC doesn’t even have time to write them down himself, he has to rely on friends to write them for him as he lets his imagination flow.

When it comes to performing, JC loves to make the most of every venue. When he performs JC prefers to do so with live bands, such as Yee-Ha!” like he did for the Lunchbox Concert Series. He feels as if the live accompaniment gives his music a more “jazzy soulful feel.” He also takes any opportunity he can to show off his art. Because most college performance venues are not rap friendly JC has to get creative and perform at “pop -up events” Like house parties or even at the garage at Northpoint Crossing. However, no matter the audience, JC never fails to wow the crowd.

JC recently released his newest single “Weekend” and plans to produce more music in the upcoming future. His music can be found on popular streaming sites and apps such as Spotify and Sound Cloud, and you can follow JC’s journey by liking his JC Juice Facebook page.
